The Gathering Of African Legacies, (GOAL), an initiative of the All Nations African SDA church, San Bernardino, at its maiden congregation recently honored the African Trumpet and its editor Isaac Amo-Kyereme for taking the initiative to inform Africans in America of happenings within the community and on the continent.
Receiving the award, Mr Isaac Amo-Kyereme, expressed his gratitude to GOAL for this recognition and invited the community to support the newspaper project.
“With this platform, Africans cannot complain anymore about not having an avenue to tell their own stories. This is your paper and you are invited to write in articles, send in stories and advertise in order for members of the community to know of your business as well as support this paper which is distributed free of charge” He said.
The program which took the form of a Divine Service had Dr. R. Clifford Jones, associate dean and professor in the Christian Ministry department of Andrews University, Michigan preaching.
He in his sermon charged Africans in America and on the continent to allow God to use them in doing great things where ever they find themselves. Just like Nazareth in the Bible, the world might be prejudiced about Africa’s importance and capability but just like Nazareth was selected by God to become the city in which Christ grew up in, the same God if we open ourselves to Him will change our destiny and turn things round for us as we prepare for His soon return.
Fraternal messages supporting the GOAL initiative came from the Congressman’s office, County supervisor’ office and the Southeastern California Conference of SDA churches.
